The Genie King is the boss for the second part of Quest for the Lost Eternia Shards DLC featured in Moraggo Desert Town.

"He rules the arid land alongside his faithful djinns, using any one of his powerful attacks to keep strangers out. He reigns with an iron fist...err... beard? Beware of his minions and keep a sharp eye out for his lamps. plus he has no love for women."

-- DD Digest (3/14/12)

Combat[]

During the final wave, the boss wave of Moraggo Desert Town, the Genie King will spawn and immediately go into the lamp in front of the temple (southeast side of the map). When players rub the lamp, the Genie King reappears. He re-enters a random lamp upon losing a certain percentage of his health. A purple mist flows into the direction both where the king is released and which lamp he enters. A distinct ping sound can be heard from which lamp the Genie King is hiding in. A light purple incense also emanates from the lamp.

If Hardcore or Ruthless Mode is enabled and no more players are alive, the Genie King will automatically leave his hiding spot after a few minutes.

Attacks[]

Tongue Sweep:' A 360° melee attack. The Genie King spins with his long tongue sticking out to damage and launch surrounding heroes away from him. He will never use this attack twice in a row.

Eyes Lasers: Twin laser beams are casted from the king's glowing eyes, either aiming directly at a hero or dowsing below his eye-level in a circular motion. These lasers are red, blue or green; they inflict fire, lightning and poison damage respectively.

Elemental Magic Burst: The king unleashes a mixture of projectiles of varying damage types all around him. These bolts ignore Reflection Beams.

Djinnlets: The Genie King summons three "baby" Djinn from his mouth. These, while weak, are immune to damage from non-minion towers.

Tips and Notes[]

  • Hero abilities that deal massive damage at once, such as Mana Bomb or Hawk Stance, can damage the Genie King passed the breaking point he hides again. This may reduce the number of times players have to release the king from lamps.
  • Repair your defenses when the Genie King goes into hiding. He will not attack again until he is released from his lamp.
  • Turn on your game sound effects so that you can hear the lamp the king is hiding in. Wearing headphones makes his lamp even easier to locate.
