The Lightning Tower (LT) is an Apprentice/Adept tower that can attack multiple enemies in any direction.
It channels an electric current which can chain through multiple targets over long distances, even behind cover. This damages enemies ~3 times per second. Weaker enemies are also stunned. Once the attack begins, it will last for its entire duration, even when there are no enemies to target momentarily.
On PC, the Lightning Tower is one of, if not, the most used damage-dealing defense in the game. At high stats, multiple LTs can eliminate many of the weaker foes and reliably aggro Ogres away from Eternia Crystals. Except for huge maps like Emerald City and fields 1-3 of the Crystalline Dimension, this tower can hit enemies almost anywhere on the map. On Nightmare and Ascension difficulty, Strength Drain Auras or Darkness Traps are needed to redirect otherwise lighting-immune Ogres.
Stat Scaling[]
- Stats measurements taken without upgrades or extra buffs.
- All mage towers have 1.625x more health and attack damage on Nightmare and Ascension.
- Defense Rate corresponds to Attack Duration.

- Defense Range also affects the lighting chain's maximum length and how many targets it can damage at once. Defense Rate functions as a secondary damage stat to the Lightning Tower. The data below assumes 0 Defense Damage.

Notes[]
- The LT is similar to an Electric Aura with its 360° range, but it will not always attack every vulnerable enemy in its primary targeting range.
- The electric current does not link to lightning-immune enemies.
In Other Dungeon Defenders Games[]
Unsurprisingly, Lightning Towers were nerfed in Dungeon Defenders: Awakened. They no longer chainlink to enemies through walls nor do they continue discharging when there is nothing in range to restart the electric current; LTs must recharge every time the current breaks. Ogre AI changes also prevent the tower from luring them away from Eternia Crystals, heroes and other defenses. However, if the builder Apprentice stays in the player's Hero Deck, his LTs can utilize the Pulsar rune to take advantage of their altered mechanics.
