Wyverns are flying monsters which follow a straight-line path to the Eternia Crystals. They typically spawn at locations separate from ground enemies. Often, a map will give a warning before they start to spawn.

If a Wyvern is aggroed by a hero or physical defense, they will shoot fireballs at them/it from a distance. Wyverns never aim fireballs directly at crystals, though their fireballs can still damage them.

Fish[]

Main Article: Fish-Wyvern

Mission on aquatic submerged maps like Aquanos and Temple of Water feature Fish-Wyverns instead which swim through the air to path to their target. They swing their serpentine tail and shoot poison projectiles to attack.

Different Sizes[]

In most notably Emerald City and the Death from Above challenges, the Wyverns vary in size which affects their health and flight speed. The biggest ones are "Super Wyverns," with the highest relative HP and slowest movement speed. These giant creatures never shoot fireballs.

"Phoenix Flame"[]

The Phoenix summons invincible Wyverns to attack players which are colored red on all difficulty levels.

Strategies[]

Wyverns can only be targeted by Ethereal Spike Traps or towers that shoot projectiles, such as Harpoon Turrets, Spider Minions, and Apprentice/Adept towers (excluding Magic Blockade). Auras and other traps can also affect wyverns within their effect radius. Players may need to build a few defenses where they can specifically deal with the them. Heroes with melee weapons can jump to hit wyverns when they get close to ground.

Notes[]

  • For the purpose of increased target priority, Deadly Striker Towers and SAM Units treat Wyverns as if they were 4.5x closer.
  • Wasps can also be considered the Infested Ruins' Wyvern variant, as their AI is very similar and they spawn in-place of them.
